The BluesTones are an award-winning all-female a cappella group from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The group was founded by students Susie Gaskins and Laurie Wright in February of ’99, and has been melting faces ever since.

The BluesTones are beyond humbled to be featured on the compilation album Voices Only 2013 for their version of  “Lie to Me” (Sara Bareilles). The BluesTones were also awarded three Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards (CARAs) in the categories of Best Female Collegiate Album – “Do Not Cross”, Best Country Song- “Better Dig Two” (The Band Perry), and Best Female Collegiate Soloist – Nina Beaulieu on “Lie to Me” (Sara Bareilles). We also received runner up for the categories of Best Female Collegiate Song- “Lie to Me” (Sara Bareilles) and Best Female Collegiate Arrangement- “Lie to Me” (Sara Bareilles) arranged by Nicola Bertoni.

Beyond JMU, the BluesTones have toured extensively on the East Coast, and performed alongside many fellow a cappella groups including Juxtaposition from Virginia Tech, the UGA Accidentals, the Springstreeters from Williams College, and the Hullabahoos from the University of Virginia.
