About the Bluestones

We are the BluesTones, an all-female a cappella group at James Madison University. Students Susie Gaskins and Laurie Wright founded this group in February of 1999, and we certainly have come a long way since! We rehearse regularly, arrange our own music, and perform and compete at an array of events and fundraisers on and off campus. Beyond JMU, the BluesTones have received much recognition and have toured extensively on the East Coast, performing alongside R&B group Ahmir, and many fellow a cappella groups including the Springstreeters from Williams College, Juxtaposition from Virginia Tech, the Accidentals from UGA, and the Hullabahoos from the University of Virginia.

We have recorded six studio albums, including our newest album, Black & Blue! We're always working on learning new material, and we specialize in popular music from oldies to present day hits.
