The BluesTones are an award-winning all-female a cappella group from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The group was founded by students Susie Gaskins and Laurie Wright in February of ’99, and has been melting faces ever since.
Their sixth and most recent album, “Black & Blue,” was produced by Danny Ozment of Emerald City Productions and Dave Sperandio of diovoce. The BluesTones are beyond humbled to be featured on the compilation album BOCA (Best of Collegiate A Cappella) 2013 for their rendition of “Battlefield” by Jordin Sparks. One of their other tracks, “Broken-Hearted Girl” by Beyonce, is featured on Voices Only 2012. The BluesTones were also nominated for Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards (CARAs) in the categories of Best Female Collegiate Album – “Black & Blue” and Best Female Collegiate Song – “crushcrushcrush” (Paramore), and were awarded Best Female Collegiate Soloist – Nicola Bertoni on “Broken-Hearted Girl” (Beyonce).
